Trip control · birthday in Kuala Lumpur

CMN KUL

One passport, one decision date, one budget line. Everything else is already handled — this page exists so you stop carrying it in your head.

Passport log

The tracker isn't accurate, so it doesn't count as an answer. Only a human — phone or counter — moves the needle. Log both, but they're weighted differently below.

When you go in person, ask three things and write the answers here: why is it still pending, what date will it issue, and who is telling me this. A name and a date is what makes a follow-up work.

What to do, and when

Nothing here needs the passport except the last block. That's deliberate.

The rule you write today

Decide now, while you're calm, what your 1 September self does. Then that day is execution, not agonising.

Plan A, B and the floor

A and B both contain 26 September. C is what happens if it all goes wrong — it's on the page so it stops being an unknown.

Plan A · preferred
18 – 30 Sept

Fly out the 18th so the remote-work days absorb the travel. Needs the passport in hand, or a firm issue date, by 1 September.

Birthday lands on day 9 of 13 in KL
Plan B · fallback
25 Sept – 7 Oct

Shifts everything one week later. Early October often prices lower than mid-September, so check it even if Plan A survives.

Birthday lands on day 2 — arrive, then celebrate
Plan C · the floor
October

Passport lands after 20 Sept and the fares have gone. You go in October instead. This is the worst realistic outcome and it costs you a date, not the trip.

Birthday at home. The only real loss on the table.

Leave ledger

Nine vacation days against a thirteen-day window. Click any day to cycle it: vacation → remote work → travel → off. This is the table you paste into the letter once the dates are real.

Fare log

No page can pull live fares — airlines block it. So check once a day, log the number, and read the trend instead of guessing at it. Tick "changeable" when the fare you found can be moved, so the tool can price your flexibility.

Where you're allowed to connect

Your rule isn't "Gulf carriers" — it's "no transit visa on a Moroccan passport." That's what rules Istanbul and the European hubs out, and it's the filter to apply to every fare you find.

Re-check the transit rule for anything not on this list before you book it, and prefer a single ticket end to end — splitting carriers is what forces you landside and into visa territory.

Things that are already settled

Reference, so you stop re-checking them at 1am.

VisaNone needed. Moroccan passport holders get 90 days visa-free in Malaysia.
Arrival cardMDAC, filled online in the 3 days before departure. Free, takes minutes.
BookingOnly needs your name as printed on the passport. Since this is a renewal, the name doesn't change — you can book before the passport arrives.
Passport numberAdded later under "manage booking" or at online check-in.
RoutingGulf hubs only, because they don't put you in transit-visa territory. Qatar via Doha is usually the best value on this pair.
Validity ruleMalaysia wants 6+ months on the passport. A newly issued one clears this easily.
PlugsMalaysia uses Type G — the UK three-pin. Bring an adapter for the remote-work days.

If everything goes wrong

The exact size of the downside, written down. It's smaller than it feels at 1am.

Changeable fareYou lose a change fee and a fare difference. Not the ticket.
Passport slipsPlan B. Same trip, one week later, birthday still in Kuala Lumpur.
Slips furtherPlan C in October. You lose the birthday date, not the holiday.
Leave daysUntaken days don't evaporate — they move. The nine days survive every branch above.
Worst caseA changed date and a change fee. There is no branch on this page where you lose the trip.
